Only one of seven Palm Beach County commissioners gave up $550-a-month car allowance when deputies began driving them to provide security.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff鈥檚 Office is for the first time collecting data on verbal warnings made during traffic stops. The change comes after years of urging by faith-based social justice coalition PEACE and is advised by a nationally recognized expert on bias in policing.

Commissioner Joel Flores told SA国际传谋 the $3.3 million contract with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office was in response to safety concerns by other commissioners. It comes after recent reports that a commissioner 鈥� soon to be county mayor 鈥� used deputies as her personal security detail, including for visits to the president鈥檚 Palm Beach club, Mar-a-Lago.

After flirting with it last year, Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw next year will spend $1 billion 鈥� and then some. The 10-figure milestone, which came a year after he delayed expensive purchases while running for reelection to a sixth term, represents a $116 million hike over his current budget. Despite the eye-popping increase, Bradshaw wanted more.

Authorities named the two deceased police officers on Friday: Corporal Luis Paez and Deputy Sheriff Ralph Waller. The injured police officer is Deputy Ignacio 鈥淒an鈥� Diaz.

A Palm Beach County judge ordered Arya Singh, 29, held without bail during a brief hearing Friday. She was arrested Thursday in the death of a female infant known only as 鈥淏aby June鈥� whose remains were found June 1, 2018, in Boynton Beach Inlet. She has been charged with first-degree murder.

A Miami police oversight board urged the Florida Supreme Court to reject arguments that a 2018 constitutional amendment known as 鈥淢arsy鈥檚 Law鈥� applies to law enforcement officers.
