鈥淲ithout TPS protections, Haitians risk being sent back to one of the world鈥檚 most devastating human rights crises,鈥� said Juanita Goebertus, Americas director at Human Rights Watch, in releasing their report.

Broward鈥檚 bluest seat has become one of the most contentious congressional races in the state. The event was the first time the candidates squared off since the field was finalized June 12.

The letter, signed by 10 of the 15 elected members of the Florida DNC said that by running in the historically Black district, Wasserman Schultz was undermining Black political representation.

The change is spurred on by Gov.Ron DeSantis鈥� redistricting effort. Wasserman Schultz鈥檚 current district, Florida's 25th, which had included most of southern Broward, was drawn to include coastal communities from Delray Beach to Miami Beach. Florida鈥檚 20th district includes most of central Broward north of I-595.

FL-20 is Broward only reliably Democratic district and historically black.

A contingent of nearly 200 Democratic members of Congress filed a "friend of the court" brief with the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday, mounting a major legal challenge against the Trump administration's termination of Temporary Protected Status for Haitians and Syrians.

"To be housing ICE detainees in a detention camp in the middle of the Everglades 鈥� without making sure that they have enough access to nutritious food and the ability to sleep and have access to counsel 鈥� everything about this screams inhumane and unnecessary," U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Weston, told reporters.
