A Brightline train carrying the company鈥檚 president struck a car in Pompano Beach on Monday, just as the company was celebrating its first day of resuming service after a 19-month hiatus during the pandemic.
The Brightline train was southbound from West Palm Beach when the collision happened, a company spokesperson said.
A woman headed eastbound on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard 鈥渢urned right, onto the train tracks,鈥� said Pompano Beach Fire and Rescue spokesperson Sandra King from the scene. King went on to explain that the woman, a 71-year old grandmother with her 1-year-old grandchild in the car, was attempting to pull off the tracks when the train struck.
