A Brightline train carrying the company鈥檚 president struck a car in Pompano Beach on Monday, just as the company was celebrating its first day of resuming service after a 19-month hiatus during the pandemic.
The Brightline train was southbound from West Palm Beach when the collision happened, a company spokesperson said.
A woman headed eastbound on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard 鈥渢urned right, onto the train tracks,鈥 said Pompano Beach Fire and Rescue spokesperson Sandra King from the scene. King went on to explain that the woman, a 71-year old grandmother with her 1-year-old grandchild in the car, was attempting to pull off the tracks when the train struck.
