Judges of the Radio Television Digital News Association awarded SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ä± News with six regional awards in the 2016 Edward R. Murrow Awards competition. SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ä± competes in RTDNA Region 13, which is comprised of Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico and the U.S.Virgin Islands. The station won four regional Murrow awards last year.
SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ä±'s wins were for continuing coverage of normalized relations between the United States and Cuba; a look at the South Florida graffiti scene in the '90s; an investigation into the lives of those who fall into the health care coverage gap; an exploration of the migration crisis in Central America; how a popular Brazilian sport is taking over South Florida beaches; and overall excellence for the SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ä± news team.
