Miami is a finalist for Super Bowls in 2016 an 2017. Only problem: There are other finalists - San Francisco and Houston - and each has a younger, better-looking and better-equipped stadium. The possibility of hosting the big game, , may put some steam behind a drive for taxpayer-funded renovations to Sun Life Stadium.
During a press conference Tuesday in Chicago, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the Dolphins “feel that [renovations] are a large part of their bid.” Added Frank Supovitz, a top NFL executive: “I really don’t have any insight as to how renovations would play for a bid, except to say you do have two strong contenders with which you’re competing and they both have state-of-the-art facilities.”
So, how do rivals view Miami's chances of getting another Super Bowl? A because of our stadium issues. And San Francisco honchos are planning to fight for an event that could be worth up to half a billion dollars in economic activity.
