U.S. Rep. Carlos Gimenez, R-Miami, is seeking to chair the House Homeland Security Committee.
POLITICO reported that it obtained and sent to the Steering Committee of his intent to run. His congressional office confirmed to POLITICO his interest in the position.
The current chair, U.S. Rep. Mark Green, of Tennessee, is leaving the post because he is resigning from Congress.
