The COVID-19 pandemic is forcing Florida Grand Opera to cancel its mainstage 2020-2021 season.
But the organization is still devising ways to get opera fans their fix 鈥� on a smaller scale.

FGO usually holds its mainstage productions at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale.
In a press release, Florida Grand Opera CEO Susan Danis said the organization had to make the "extremely difficult decision" to suspend those productions, based on local guidelines for large gatherings and advice from health officials.
But throughout the fall season, FGO has been holding concerts and small opera performances in both counties 鈥� before socially-distanced audiences.
The organization even opened up a performance space at its administrative headquarters in Doral.
"Basically, it's just a big building with a large warehouse in the back that's just completely gutted," said FGO Chief Marketing Officer Nicholas Svorinich.
"And we use it mostly for building sets and our rehearsals. We just sort of carved out this big open space and that's where we've been doing these performances."
