Florida Lets Bars Start COVID-19 Comeback At 50% Capacity. Miami-Dade Says Not Yet.

Miami Beach bars and restaurants reopened on May 27, after being closed for two months because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Bars and breweries will reopen at 50 percent capacity starting on Monday after they were shut down June 26.

The state will allow bars to reopen at 50% capacity starting Monday, Florida鈥檚 top business regulator announced via Twitter Thursday evening. But that鈥檚 not going to apply in Miami-Dade County.

Halsey Beshears, the secretary of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, said that the state will rescind Executive Order 20-09, which forced some standalone bars and breweries to essentially shut down earlier this summer in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Jennifer Moon, the Miami-Dade County deputy mayor overseeing emergency orders, said the county wouldn鈥檛 be adding bars to Monday鈥檚 planned lifting of bans on rental scooters, outdoor amusement parks and tour boats. 鈥淣o bars,鈥 she said.
