It鈥檚 not exactly something you鈥檇 expect to see hanging in theLouvre. A very unusual art exhibit is on display at the University of North Florida Gallery of Art.
鈥淚nk, Icons, Identity: ExploringU2鈥檚Brand Through Fan Tattoos鈥 is a multimedia project that examines the personal experiences ofU2fans and their relationship with the Irish rock band.UNF Assistant Professor of graphic design and digital media Beth Nabi is curator of the exhibit. She is a big fan of U2 but does not display any tattoos.
On "First Coast Connect" Tuesday, Nabi said someone doesn鈥檛 have to be a fan of the band, or even tattoos, to enjoy the exhibit.
"They鈥檙e fascinating, and the reason for that is because they are such a diverse spread,鈥 she said. 鈥淯2 doesn鈥檛 have that singular iconic mark like a band like the Rolling Stones do, and that鈥檚 what really motivated the project was to see the diversity of what fans get tattooed.鈥
The display continues at UNF through Aug. 26. It will then move to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland as part of U2's 40th anniversary celebration.
